Russian Prime Minister Valimir Putin won a gold medal during a suspicious media blackout of the Sochi Winter Olympics Friday afternoon.
Spectators and participants alike were surprised when it was announced that Putin would compete for Russia in the men's skeleton.
"We still don't know what he did with Russia's frontrunner, Alexander Tretiakov," said a puffy-eyed Bob Costas.
Immediately after Putin's name was announced, a mysterious blackout swept throught the winter games.
"It didn't just affect the power grid, all electronic devices ceased functioning," said NBC's Meredith Vieira. "Someone hit us with an electromagnetic pulse."
When the power came back, the city was full of Russian military and Putin was being awarded the gold metal for men's skeleton.
"Everyone present agreed that Putin had won, though all did so nervously," said Vieira.
